Caps

I have just finished something I’ve wanted to do for ages: I completed my first Chemo Cap.
Making caps for chemotherapy patients has been a desire of mine since I started actively crocheting. When I learned how to crochet-in-the round, I became terrified of the prospect (my resulting hat was, um, less than stellar). So, I put the idea on the back burner. Last week, I came across a plea from Knots-of-Love, so I took a deep breath, and hit the “contact us” link.
Within a day I had patterns, recommended materials, and helpful hints. I printed everything out, selected a yarn from my stash, picked up my hook and began. An hour and a half later, I had a mostly completed cap in my hand (I finished the last two rows at lunch today). And it looks like a cap, rather than a mangled assortment of stitches!
So, if any of you fellow crocheters out there stumble upon this post, I would encourage you to visit the website. It’s an easy, quick, small project that makes you feel like a million bucks.

This is the original concept….more or less (I added a border). I already have too many scarfs, so this found a happy home with one of my fellow pit dwellers.
Happy Scrappy meets Li’l Darlin’. The original pattern has tie closures on the front. I opted to make the front overlapping to make it more of a snuggly cardigan. Course, I still have a long way to go…
